How do you reduce DL time
I've got a Flash MX file I'm only half way finished producing. As it stands
now it will take over 710 seconds to download at 56.6 k per second. Is there
a way to reduce the file size just before or after the movie is exported?
Thanks in advance for suggestions....

Re: How do you reduce DL time
No one is going to wait 11 minutes for anything on the internet.
What do you have in your movie?
I strongly suggest you use external swfs that load as and when you need
them.
Check the photos (if any) you are using - only need to be 72 dpi for
internet. Resize in another program - don't import to Flash and then scale.
What is the size of your movie?

Re: How do you reduce DL time
I'm using stock photos. Obviously too many of them.
The size of the file is unimportant now because I'm starting over from
scratch. What will help me is to know file size limitations so I don't run
into the same problem.

Re: How do you reduce DL time
Thanks Shane.....
I've only been using Flash MX for a few weeks.
You mention optimizing. I assume this will reduce my file size. How do I do
this?

Re: How do you reduce DL time
There are no file size limitations. Only the ones you impose so your file
will not be too big. And only you can decide what is too big. It will vary
based on who you want to view it.
What he means is don't import a huge image and then scale it down in Flash> Please explain what you mean by this: "don't import to Flash and then

because Flash won't resample it like Photoshop. It will display small but
use a large amount of file size.

Re: How do you reduce DL time
perhaps you could post the fla for download so that others may help you.
Without more information about the file its difficult to say what might be
inflating the file size. You may make adjustments prior to export under the
Flash publishing options.
