Default how do you shape tween imported images?

Okay, I imported two images of paintings and want one to morph into the other.
I imported the first image, inserted a blank keyframe, then imported the second
image in the new keyframe. I broke apart both images and then selected shape
    tween on the first frame.

The result was very disappointing, the first image barely changed at all, and
then it became the second image. I tried it with the Ease on 100, 0, -100 but
    it made no difference.

    What gives?
