How do you turn of "publish as new"?
I'd like to know how to turn off the "publish as new" setting in contribute CS3
and contribute 3, does anyone know how to do this from the admin console?
I have already turned off all New Pages options in the administrator Settings
for each group as we manage this from Dreamweaver CS3 but they can still save a
copy of an existing page by following the steps below:
[num]Open a page for editing in contribute[/num]
[num]Go to File > Actions > Publish as New Page[/num]
How do you stop this?
Thanks
Nathan

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
Please check all the role-settings for all the roles again concerning the New
Pages using Contribute Administer Websites, because the settings you are
referring to should have the effect of graying out the 'publish as new page'
option.

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
I've checked the New pages section and for this particular site all options are
disabled for all user groups.
When I'm editing an existing page in this site I can still save a copy by
using File > Actions > Publish as New Page.
Are there any other settings I should check?

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
You are quit right... This is not so nice. Then what's the point of these
settings. There must be a way to solve this, otherwise the settings are plain
stupid and of no value. I'll serach teh web and try testing some more. I'll get
back to this post...

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
When you uncheck the 'Allow users to publish files' in the admin-settings
(Users and Roles, General) the option 'Publish as New Page' is grayed out even
in Edit mode.
This is probably not what you are looking for, since the users have to send
existing pages for review now...

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
I think this is a bug... The save Publish as New Page should be greyed out on
applying the proper settings. There is no other logical setting, as far as I'm
concerned that has anything to do whit this duplicating pages. I think you
should report it as a bug. I will do that too.

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
Thanks for your help. As you suggested we still want editors to be able to
publish their changes without sending for review, so that's not quite what I
had in mind.
I've submitted a bug report to Adobe.
Thanks

Re: How do you turn of "publish as new"?
I received a response from Adobe feedback saying they couldn't reproduce the
error. Maybe it's something specific to the way it's set up or maybe they just
didn't understand the steps to reproduce the error, I'm not sure.

Sounds like time to produce a word file with screen shots gents.
