Have you checked Creating bookmarks in the Help files?

You can also add anchors, buttons, sound and video too! Really good coverage of this in Classroom in a Book InDesign CS!

Hyperlinks basics-- Highlight text with text tool and go to Window>Interactive>Hyperlinks
    Fill out the dialog box!

    Export to PDF!

Sorry to repost--I killed my machine between posts 2-3!

Bookmarks: Open the bookmarks palette: Windows>Interactive>Bookmarks
    Click on add new bookmark.

Hyperlinks Highlight text you want to use as a link with the text tool Windows>Interactive>Hyperlink, fill out link information

You can also add anchors, buttons, sounds and movies to your PDF's inside of InDesign CS!!!

Chapter 11 of Classroom in a Book InDesign CS does a good job of covering the subject.

Ahhhh... InDesign CS. Wasn't sure about that. I have the version of InDesign prior to the CS version. I think I will have to buy that program.

Hello everyone, don't the older versions of ID allow you to create bookmarks?

I find it hard to believe that PageMaker lets you do this but an older version of ID doesn't.

I nave not used any of the older versions of ID for creating PDF files with bookmarks so I can't contest the assumption of Will Ferrell that the older version doesn't do it.

LOL! Well like the bitter people of the forums say "DId you look in the help menu!"... I did. There is a section on it... but slim. There is a flyout menu that seems to act like bookmarks, thus working with the Export command. When I tried no luck.

    Thanks,

I can't look at the menu Will, I am using Version 3 (CS).

Did you look in the Window menu for the bookmarks palette?

I'm not sure this is the one you are talking about.

You can also make bookmarks by creating a table of contents and when you export to PDF there is an option that says "create PDF bookmarks". Make sure that option is checked and continue exporting your PDF.

When you are done and you view it with Acrobat. There should be a Bookmarks Tab on the left side of the screen. Click it once to expand it and show the contents.

Everything you've generated in the TOC should appear in the bookmarks menu.
