How to call an RPG program from an SQL statement issued outside AS/400 from
    Coldfusion 7 !?!?

I have several coldfusion 7.0 applications that connect to AS/400 through JDBC
To send and retrieve data from files (SQL select insert etc ? ) .
This is working just fine .

However , now , I need to trigger a program to run on AS/400
So that it can work on some rows and do some complex computations
before I select the rows from the physical file.

    I have OS400 V5R3M0 , I use IBM?s Java tool box JTopen V5.0 with Coldfusion
    7.0?
So how do I issue from CFMX a command such as
    ?CALL PGM(MYLIB/CALCINT) PARM(?2006?)?
This call will work fine from command line.

    Please help me ,
No one else has a clue of how to do that !!!
    Including IBM folks .

    thank you .

Default Re: How to call an RPG program from an SQL statementissued outside AS/400 from Coldfusion 7 !?!?

I had a similar problem in that I needed to generate reports and e-mail them
    from the 400.

To solve this, I created a trigger program on a 400 file that pulled data from
the file to define which program to run and what parameters to pass it. You
should be able to use this appraoch in an interactive environment as well (in
the sense that the CF INSERT or UPDATE query should "hang" until the 400
    trigger program completes).

We are moving our websites to a host company. What would be the best way for us
to connect to the AS/400? We currently use the same connection method as you
but of course that won't work if the sites are hosted outside our network.
Should we use a web service? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
