    Hi,

Thanks a lot for your responses. I am trying to find this on Linux.
Could you please let me know which part of the source code I can find?
I looked into Kernel code but couldn't find.

I tried to look for source code of login or getty command. I couldn't
    find so far.

    TIA

I don't do linux so i cannot tell ... But it's not in the
kernel code, it's definitly in user space.

Try manpages for 'login' and 'passwd'

Could you tell us _which_ Linux? There's a lot of them. Anything
as involved as this, it's kinda important to say.

Depending on the Linux version, it may be in the source to libpam or a
    PAM module.
