How to change # of region switches on DVD player?

Hello, does anyone know how to change or disable the counter on the region
switch function on the Mac DVD player? To be specific, I am using the G4 iMac
with Superdrive. The DVD player lets you change the region 5 times.

Replace the DVD drive to get another five times.

Hi,
Find out what brand, exact model the drive is and see if you can patch
firmware to make it region free. Or there is utility which will make the
drive region free. Do a search on firmware-flash.
I have multiple DVD drives in my house, I could patch all but one drive
firmware. Patched ones play any DVD disc regardless of region code.

Do you mean that there are different kinds of DVD players *within* the iMac? I
didn't realize. Thanks for the tip, I will check into it.
