How to enable .psp file editing?
Dear all.
How can I enable .psp file editing in Contribute? PSP files are similar to ASP
and JSP and the syntax is identical.
This is possible with Dreamweaver but I cannot figure out how to associate
..psp with the internal Contribute editor.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Finn

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
Give this a try:
1. From within Dreamweaver MX 2004, choose Site > Administer Contribute
Site.
2. Enter your administrator password.
3. Create a new role.
4. Click the Edit Role Settings button.
5. Select the Editing category.
6. Uncheck the Protect Scripts and Forms option.
7. Click OK to close the Edit Setting dialog box.
8. Click OK again to save the settings to your web server.

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
Thanks for the suggestion, but this doesn't do anything with the file extension
so Contribute still doesn't want to edit my .psp file. I can register an
external application as the editor for .psp files but not Contribute.
Cheers,
Finn

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
May be a long shot but you could try adding the extension to
Extesions.txt and ExtensionsEdit.txt
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Contribute 3\Configuration
here's some Dreamweaver info that may relate:

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
Thanks for pointing that out. I've now discovered that it's possible to extend
Contribute with Dreamweaver extensions. Since I've developed a Dreamweaver
extension for PSP I will try this with Contribute. However, Extension Manager
1.6 doesn't recognize Contribute :-(. Shouldn't I be able to install
Dreamweaver extensions with Contribute without installing Dreamweaver?

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
I would guess, no -- based on the fact that Macromedia Exchange offers no Contribute category

Re: How to enable .psp file editing?
Contribute does support similar extensibility as dw- but doesn't support the
Extension Manager.
in other words- Instead of creating an .mxp which packs/unpacks the
extension files with a single mouse click, you would copy the extension
files manually to where the files need to go like back in the days of Dw2.
