How to get an ad under 30kb?
I don't understand how I can get an add to be under 30kb. This is for a 300x250.
You can see the add at http://www.mikeathome.net/pc/
I've compresse the swf... put the images to 40% quality.
When looking at the biggest element in it, it is the AS 2.0 classes. They seem
to be taking up 38kb.
The only thing in there are some strings variables and the getUrls.
Well a few conditional statement as well.
Even if I loaded the images in the as instead of embedding them in the
movie.. it would still be over 30kb.
What am I doing wrong?
Here is the size report. Thanks for any info!

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
mjpawlowsky,
This is entirely because you're using UI Components. While they can be> When looking at the biggest element in it, it is the AS 2.0 classes.
great for applications, they're just too heavy for a banner ad.. Drop 'em.
If you need buttons, use a button symbol. :)

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
First thanks for the reply!
It's not a button I need, but a Text Input Field.
Anyway around not using a component for that.

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
mjpawlowsky,
Use the Text Tool in the Flash toolbar (icon looks like an A).> It's not a button I need, but a Text Input Field.

TextFields have three choices: static, dynamic, and input, which you can
set in the Properties inspector.

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
It's just a text field set to input text, right?

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
don't use bitmaps,i.e. don't import any images, use flash vector images instead. if you want to use a bitmap, make sure it is a small image, and or lower quality.

Re: How to get an ad under 30kb?
Well by changing the textInput box from a component to a regular inputText box, I now got it down to 27kb.
Thanks!
