How to ignore DS_Store files? - Mac Programming

Hi, While parsing/getting the contents of a folder using FSGetCatalogInfoBulk, I sometimes pick up ".DS_Store" entries. What is the safest way to ignore these? By name match? ... can I rely on that name? Or is there a better identifier? Thanks Steve...

What are you really trying to do? There are probably other files you'd want to
ignore, but my crystal ball is hazy today so you'll have to tell me what you are
    doing.

Count how many folders there are inside a given folder, that _only_
    contains other folders.

..Count the contents of any folder and end up with the same number that's
    shown in the finder window!

So what other common oddball files might one often find?

    Thanks

    Steve

You want to ignore all invisible items. An item is invisible if:

    1. It has the HFS/HFS+ hidden flag set or
    2. Its name begins with a '.' or
    3. It resides on the top level of the boot volume and its name is listen in
    /.hidden
