I have been wondering this same thing.
I read that you could import from the hard drive - but it doesn't explain how.
The documentation is really lame on all of the new features.

but the only way is that putting DVD movies (including AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS)
to the root folder of one disc drive. if i have many DVD movies, how??? put
each one to a different disc drive's root folder?
why NOT director mx 2004 locating the DVD movies in any folders? but only the
    root folder of disc drive?

Rename the folders as required and rename them back when finished.
