how to stop framesets from displaying on other documentpages??
:beer; I think I need one !!!
I'm a little new to DW8 and have been renovating a previously developed
site...most of which is working well except
My first page is a splash page, using 3 frames... two of are static sidebar
motif and header.... the third displays tables and
menu choices. When a menu choice is made... it links to another document
page. I have a navigation bar set up so that
you can go between the document pages and also back to the home page.
Here's the problem
When I navigate between the document pages all shows up as it should without
the frameset header or sidebar. However
when I start my navigation from the home page.... it displays the document
pages...including the sidebar and header. I
do not want the sidebar and header to be automatically displayed on each
document page just the actual content of the page.
I think what is happening is that ONLY the third frameset which originally
holds the menu selection tables is being updated.
and that my linkable document pages are being displayed in this frameset.
Is there a way to clear the screen so that the
document page can display by itself.....
Thanking you in advance
Bryan...

Re: how to stop framesets from displaying on other document pages??
The reason for using or not using frames should be based on a) your site's
needs, and b) your willingness to accept the potential problems that frames
can create for you as developer and maintainer of the site and for your
visitors as casual users of the site.
I am down on frames because I believe that they create many more problems
than they solve.
Judging from the posts here, and the kinds of problems that are described,
the kind of person most likely to elect to use frames is also the kind of
person most likely ill-prepared fo solve the ensuing problems when they
arise. If you feel a) that you understand the problems and b) that you are
prepared to handle them when they occur, and c) that you have a need to use
frames, then by all means use them.
As far as I know, the most comprehensive discussions of frames and their
potential problems can be found on these two links -
