RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
I have new G4 and installed the newest Illustrator CS on my laptop ONLY to find out that I have NO UNDERSTANDING of how to create multiple page documents - as with the previous and easier versions of AI.
Can anyone PLEASE walk me through it step by step? I am need of some much appreciated support! The AI help section makes no sense. It used to be as easy as going to document setup in the begining and clicking "multiple pages"...NOW WHAT/?????
Thanks!!!

Do a search in this forum for multiple page documents. I think you'll find a lot of discussion on the issue.

Re: RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
Create the document to the size you want go to File>Print and select Adobe PDF as the printer and Adobe PDF as the PPD and select the page size you want from Media>Size in the set up section of the Print dialog select Tile Full Pages. That should do it then close out of the print dialog. Go to View Show Tiling and create your artwork. When done go back to the Print dialog and with Adobe PDF still selected hit print if you have Acrobat CS 0r 6 installed you will end up with a multiple page PDF on your desktop.. Not too complicated.

Re: RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
Wade,
THANK YOU so much for taking the time to read my posting and give me accurate and helpful instructions on how to tile - the problem that was messing me up was that i do not have a printer yet hooked up to my cpu so i was never given the option to TILE PAGES...man, could they make this new program any more complicated that the old one.....anyway thanks again.
On another note - just curious...do you use the font book installed with new Panther (if you have it) or do you use Suitcase and if so why or what is better - i am havingproblems with Fontbook and was going to get the newest suitcase....
any thoughts?

Re: RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
Suitcase is simply better IMO auto-activation works gives you opportunities to manage some of the system fonts and just seems to have less problems you can scan for corrupt or damaged fonts as well.
The choice is yours.
Also perhaps you view AI CS as more complicated but I think it is just growing pains.
It does for the most part out perform other versions and given all the features well perhaps performance was a consideration in the development of this version.
It is more responsive and you can do more I assume that is why things are configured the way they are for instance you can do a lot more in the Print dialog than you could have ever done elsewhere and the page setup is almost totally unnecessary.
I seldom find I need to use it come to think of it I don't use it in AI CS.

Once again Wade,
Your insight and feedback is greatly appreciated. I am going to look into the new suitcase now.
Enjoy your evening.

Re: RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
Wade,
I hope this email finds you well. I have another quick question to ask you.
I am trying my hardest to save an Illustrator CS document as version 9.0 or even 10 - and it doesn't give me that option.
Do you know how?
Thanks!
Josh

Re: RE: How to TILE multiple pages in Illus. CS?????? HELP!
Josh, to save you accidentally saving as Legacy (or pre-CS) the back-save function is now located under File/Export. Choose your version here, save and close the file. You are given the option to save the original file as well, but don't if you wish to keep it as AICS!
