How to update pages after editing templates
Right now we are evaluating Contribute as a CMS for a group of related
websites. They are all based on DW templates. So far, so good ... but here is
one thing we don't understand and cannot find in the documentation ...
We have made changes to the templates, and uploaded the templates to the
server. Now we want all the pages which use those templates to be updated
on-site. It's easy to do on the desktop machine -- DW does it automatically,
but if we are using Contribute, that is not useful.
Please don't tell use we have to download the site to the desktop machine,
update them in the new templates, then send them back to the server!

Re: How to update pages after editing templates
Templates work exactly the same in contribute as they would in any other
site using DW.
You change your template locally and all the pages in the site are changed.
All updated pages are then uploaded to the site.
Contribute only has templates on the remote server so that people editing
the site can create a new page from a template you have created.
The only way, I think, for what you want to happen would be to use SSI.

Re: How to update pages after editing templates
Thanks for your quick reponse.
This is a major disadvantage. Contribute has so many other useful management
functions, I really expected updating from templates to be a standard feature.
It's true that I can use SSI or PHP, but that should be an optional
alternative, not a necessity. Now Contribute does not look so good compared to
a conventional server-side CMS.
