How to use multiple sound cards in linux - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

I need to install four sound cards(Creative Ensoniq 5880 Audio PCI) in my linux box, and each sound card will do the work of sampling and playback at the same time. But it seemed that I can have only one of them to work. Does anybody know what I should to to get all of them to work? I read Sound-Howto but didn't find some useful help. I am using RedHat Linux 7.2 and the kernel is 2.4.18 Thanks very for any help...

    Hi,

No, why? I'm running here the built-in sound card on my
motherboard and the SBLive! in parallel happily. That's
    alsa 0.9.6 though.

Does red-hat come with alsa? If not, see here:
