HP 1220 Mac Twain driver

I have an HP 1220, all-in-one, and I recently switched to Mac running OS X. I like to be able to open the scanner directly from Acrobat. Acrobat 7 Professional does not seem to recognize it as a scanner. It is not listed under Create PDF >> from Scanner. It does not appear to see a Twain driver. I got a CD for OS X from HP, but that does not help the problem. HP no longer supports this printer. Any advice?

Use your Web Browser and google for SANE.

go to that site. locate the section for Macintosh.

Locate 4 pkg's for your printer.
Twain Backend,
Frontend Interface
Gettext

and another item I forget.

Only download the packages icon looks like a box opened colored orange. Don't touch nothing else.

install all of these packages. (No certain order).

You should now show a driver for Acrobat.

The SANE project is open source and volunteers work on it. So there may be minor bugs you have to put up with. ocassionally when doing a preview you'll see an all black preview. Just reinstall the packages and it will retifify the problem.

Otherwise, you'll have an expensive doorstop on your hands.
