HP Officejet 7130 Scanner on WIndows XP Professional not recognized by Acrobat 6.0.1 Professional - Adobe Acrobat Windows

I am using WIndows XO pro on a Dell inspiron 8600, running Acrobat 6.0.1 Professional, with a HP officejet all-in-one 7130 scanner/printer. Acrobat has no problem printing to this unit, and it scanns perfectly well with many applications. The only one is Acrobat: when I select File -> Create PDF -> From Scanner, it identifies the device as "WIA-hp officejet 7100 scanner" (i.e., it recognizes the device); I hit the "scan" on this pop-up menu and get the following error from Adobe Acrobat: "Error while interacting with the scanner: the selected scanner was not found". I checked the Adoe knowledgebase, ...

Default HP Officejet 7130 Scanner on WIndows XP Professional not recognized by Acrobat 6.0.1 Professional

I checked the Adoe knowledgebase, followed all the instrucitons to try and fix it, and failed. I also tried to locate the ISIS device driver for this unit, assuming that this is the problem; but I only found ISIS device drivers for HP 7400, not for the 7130.

I would be most grateful for any help; I would also request that whoever has a solution please send me the answer to ybabaduic.edu.

    Thanks, Yair

ISIS drivers are not going to do you any good--Acrobat only supports TWAIN and WIA drivers.

The scanner appearing in Acrobat does not mean that it sees the scanner. It only means that it recognizes that a driver is loaded. The "not found" error is coming back from the driver when Acrobat attempts to invoke it.

Exactly which applications can you scan from? Photoshop is a bad test because many scanner vendors ship Photoshop-specific scanning plugins that bypass the TWAIN/WIA interface.

Same problemo here too with XP; I'm using the 7140 and also tried everything. I've had nothing but problems with this and XP machines; always somethin different on each one. Keep checkin the forum..it's our only choice now since Adobe is no freakin help!!!

I do have this combination working, Acrobat 6.0.1, XP, 7130xi. So it's possible. I'm using the driver that is on the HP web site, not the one from the CD that came with the unit.

I sometimes get the "not found" error message, too. This usually happens if I moved USB cables around, or after power-cycling the 7130. I think this puts the scanner into a different "slot" in some system table, but Acrobat remembers it at the old slot. Hence, no communications. To clear that up, I pick another scanner from the list in Acrobat, then Cancel the scan dialog, and switch back to the 7130. This apparently clears out the stale information, and now it can talk to the scanner.

    Good luck.

Hi! I Am from Italy! All that is stupid! The Forums are full of signalling. Adobe Acrobat 6.0 does not work with some HP Officejet (I have a HP Officejet V40), but neither HP neither Adobe make anything in order to resolve the problem.
