Hybrid Business Layer

    Default Hybrid Business Layer

Our team is currently working on planning the implementation of a 3-Tier
architecture for our enterprise app. We will be extracting it from an existing
application. We have a few Java programmers and about 3 times as many
ColdFusion programmers. Ultimately we'd like this layer to work in Java
because we have multiple applications written entirely in Java that would
access the layer as well as our multiple ColdFusion applications accessing the
same functionality. We felt that Java could do the "Heavy Lifting" portions
better and it's easier to have CF talk to Java and Java talk to Java rather
than have CF talk to CF and Java talk to CF.

Business realities require we make a hybrid out of this solution. Some
objects as CFCs others using Java (due to programmer resources).

Anyone have any suggestions on how we can successfully merge these two
technologies, best practices for the scenario provided or alternate suggestions
    to this scenario?

There are some definite opinions on this issue and I'm trying to frame this
discussion as neutrally as possible. Please provide reasons and details where
possible to back your opinions so I can include them in our proposal.

    THANK YOU!!!
