Hyperlinking to data files in MSP 2003
Can someone please take me step by step through how you hyperlink to a data
file in Publisher 2003? I know how hyperlinks work, how to create them for
text and graphics and pages..., but I can't figure out how to link to data
files. I have searched through here, and on David's site but to no avail. I
appreciate the help. Thanks.

Re: Hyperlinking to data files in MSP 2003
If you are referring to linking to external files, a file not inside the
Publisher web, it is a two step process. Step one is to upload the file to
the web server. Make sure you pay attention to where you upload it so you
know it's address, the URL. This is the same as moving a file on your PC,
you need to know where you put it. Step two is in the hyperlink dialog you
select the option to link to an internet address (versus a page in the Pub
doc) and then you type in the full (http://blah blah blah) address (url) of
the file.

Re: Hyperlinking to data files in MSP 2003
IS this the same process I would use for downloading? I would liek my users to be able to go to a password protected page (i thnk I can figure that part out) and be able to download a zip file from there.. how do I go about doing this so It downloads on thier comp not on the page?

Re: Hyperlinking to data files in MSP 2003
Clicking a link to a zip file will prompt them to accept the download to
their pc.
Publisher has no support for passwording. Such permission processes are
server-side, ask your host for options.
