Hyperlinks Don't Work
OK. I officially feel like a computer illiterate. I have
several web sites on the web; 2 are great, but when I
upload the new one, I can not get the links to work. I
read something somewhere about saving the links
separately and making sure that they are directed to the
web and not a file on my computer, but I don't know how
to do that nor what makes this one different from the
ones that work. Will someone help me, please?

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
When I find a link failure on my site it turns out to be, a space or
upper/lower case letter in the file name is either there and not in the link
address or vice versa. Long paths make it easier to error.
You don't want the paths addressing your computer in any way, you want the
paths routing to areas on the I.P.
You could review the paths on the two working sites to see where there may
be a clue to the problem.

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
Usually you want to point to something in your website, like another page.
If you create the page first, you can use the hyperlink wizard to point to
it from the menu that is presented. That way you don't have to deal with
paths at all. Just select the page from the menu and Pub knows where to find
it.

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
I have a six page site with 75+ links to files on my site and files on other
web sites. The only links to pages on the site are the ones that were
generated when creating the pages.

Save links separately?
No idea what that means?
I suggest reviewing my FAQ www.davidbartosik.com for common linking errors.

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 296823 is the article
that refers to saving links separately. Thanks to
everyone for your help. Still working on the problem,
though.

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
Yes, external files have to be manually uploaded as of version 2002.
I still don't get why you call that "saving links separately", but no
biggie.
I cannot help you until I know what the problem is, what you've said so far
is too vague.
How about posting your url of the site having difficulty and state
specifically what areas need to be reviewed.

Re: Hyperlinks Don't Work
The pub file I received for review had been improperly developed. Each page
had objects going "off page". Publisher has a defined "white" area for a
reason. Widening the page in page setup and getting all objects on page
resulted in my getting a functional site.
