I am having this same problem with relative links in buttons using Acrobat 6.01.

When clicking on a button with the action, "Open a web link," Acrobat 6.01 adds "http://" to the beginning of the address. Clicking on the same button using Acrobat 5.5 opens the web page without changing the link. The problem exists whether the links are created in version 5 or 6; the problem occurs while viewing the page.

The relative paths are correct. I cannot use absolute paths because the links are used in more than one site with identical folder structures.

Is there any way to prevent Acrobat 6 from adding "http://" to the beginning of relative links?

If you are using relative web links then it may be advisable to set the base URL in the document properties. If it is a GoToR or Launch link (not a weblink) Acrobat/Reader will open it in the browser as if it is relatively addressed.

To Mike:

What is the URL you set and what is the URL appearing in the browser?

To car_los:

In order to edit the links, you'll need Acrobat or to find someone with it who can help you.

Another point to bear in mind is that different versions of Acrobat do not handle spaces in weblinks the same. From memory, Acrobat 6 (Win) does not escape spaces with '%20' thus breaking weblinks. You might want to verify this for yourself.

The next version of ARTS PDF Link Tool/Checker (plug-in) will include the ability to verify web links, convert relative to absolute links and also convert open file/GoToR links to Weblinks. A must for publishing PDFs to the Web, www.artspdf.com.

Hope this helps...

Hi!
I have an excel doc that I have added hyperlinks to and when I convert the doc to PDF format, the links do not work. Is there an additional step that I need to take to get the links to work in the PDF doc? Also, once I get these to working how do I upload these PDF docs to our company website. Can you tell I am new at this???
Thanks!
