I am looking for a DW API hook
Like _beforeSave, is there a DW API hook akin to _beforePreview (before
previewing in a browser the page currently open in the Design Window)?
btw, "_beforePreview" does not seem to work, but I am hoping there is
some other term they chose for this.
Anyone know?

Re: I am looking for a DW API hook
Thanks. I've looked everywhere. There used to be a great online
article on "undocumented DW api" calls, by paul boon? but I can no
longer find anything like it by googling. It described _beforeSave etc
and might have revealed something like _beforePreview.

Can I ask what Nancy suggested you try?
FYI: the Paul Boon extension related info you're looking for should be here:

What a nice thing to say .. thanks, Danilo! My next suggestion was actually
that he try to talk to you. :)
Yes .. the Paul Boon stuff is what I pointed him to .. unfortunately it
didn't go far enough. Also .. you wrote a series of articles on the same
subject .. but I never found Part 3 on Menu and Function call triggered
events. Did I miss it?
Thanks .. and cheers!

Re: I am looking for a DW API hook
Danilo- thanks for jumping in here.
Nancy had pointed me to the cmx links, thanks. Unfortunately they did
not have anything on this, nor did your posts, as you know.
But you did write this tantalizing bit:
"There are three general categories of event-driven Commands that
Dreamweaver allows an Extensioneer to tap into:
1. Application session Commands: Startup and Shutdown Commands
2. Document related events: Opening a document, before saving a
document, and after saving a document.
3. Menu and Function call triggered events.
"
and then you wrote articles on 1. and 2.
Would 3., were it written, not have covered allowed intervening after a
click on the Preview button?
What I am trying to do is edit the document a bit for Previewing, or
better yet edit just the TMP file just before it is Previewed. Do you
think that is possible?

{install folder}/Dreamweaver XXX/Configuration/Shared/MM/Scripts/event.js
It's supposed to allow for assigning commands to be called prior to or after certain registered "events". You'd have to invoke the event by using the event object's notify method from within your code (or menu items).
As it looks like the TMP file is created within a block of code that you can't intercept this to know what the file will be to be able to make changes to it, so I don't see how it is possible to intercept this functionality.> What I am trying to do is edit the document a bit for Previewing, or

Unless I'm not aware of something (likely) seems to me that if you need to add code for previewing, you'd need to add it to the document prior to it being viewed in a browser regardless of whether or not it is invoked via the preview in browser functionality or from a web server, so why are you not adding it to the document as part of your processing?

Re: I am looking for a DW API hook
Danilo -
Thanks for this information. Too bad it is not possible to intercept
the process where I need to.
Now, as for what this is all about, hmmm, well it's a duhh idea that,
trust me, wants to go only into a Previewed document. I could tell you
more, but then I'd have to disable you(r mouse) :?) Seriously, write me
off group and I'll fill you in: michael divaHTML.com
