I am new and need help please...
Illustrator CS
GoLive CS
Windows XP
I have started to put together a website and i am using illustrator to make link buttons and graphics for the site. My first issue is with the link buttons. When i finish my button i save it as (*.ai) first then export it as (*.jpg). When i then open the picture as an image src in GoLive it opens the button in this ImageReady thing with 'Save' and 'Cancel' on the side. But then when i look at the link button on the screen, there is all this grey, which i assume is nothing, and then my image in the middle. But the image in the middle has this rather large white border around it that was never done that way in illustrator. Then when i open the image on an image box on my site it still has this large white border on it. How can i get rid of this border so the edge of the image i made in illustrator has the same edge in GoLive??
My Next issue is a little simpler and it involves graphic creatiion with illustrator. I made an outline of an odly shaped graphic with the line tool then when i try to fill the space in the middle of the lines with the paint bucket tool nothing happens. Why can't i fill in the middle when i make a shape with lines but i can when i make a shape with the pencil. What i want to know is how to fill in the middle of my shape created with the line tool?? I understand this is a lot, but i can't seem to find wut i need in the faqs. Thanks for any input that you can give me.

Re: I am new and need help please...
Brendan,
For web use Save for Web (CtrlShiftAltS). If you want crispness in shapes rather than splendour in colours, you may use GIF instead of JPEG. In that case you may tick transparency and choose the background colour (it does not have to be very accurate) as Matte.
You need a closed path as a container to fill. As it says in the overview, the line segment tool makes individual line segments; you have to join the lines you are drawing. Probably the easiest way for you is to use the pen tool to make the lines which will then be continuous (you may adjust each endpoint with the Transform palette), and close by choosing the starting point last.

Re: I am new and need help please...
I still get the same large white border around my picture. My picture fits perfectly in the thin black border which designates the picture's size in the mainscreen of illustrator, but when i use 'Save to web' it bring up this thing with solid grey, presuably nothin, then my picture in the middle with grey and which sqares around it. My image still has a white border around it when i import it into GoLive :(

Re: I am new and need help please...
Brendan,
Try CtrlA and see whether there is anything but the artwork: Illy sees everything. When you SWF (Save for Web) there should not be squares outside the rectangular borders of the artwork.
