I can't install Adobe Acrobat Professional...

When I try to install this product, I get the an error, saying that I already has this product installed, and that I need to uninstall it... but I have not any version of Adobe Acrobat installed, not even a reader! I have also deleted all my registry keys that has the word Adobe, Acrobat, or PDF or even acr* in them, but the installer still says that I have an earlier version of this software installed!!! how can that be??? haven't I deleted all the necessary registry keys? what more keys should I saearch for? because I don't want to make a new installation of my whole windows system, as I have a great bunch of programs installed... this is the first time I have seen such an error in product, and that's why I can't solve this problem, but my friends refer to me as a knowledgeable source of information for their computer problems...

What versions of Acrobat software were installed before, and exactly
how did you uninstall them?

before, I had an older version of 6.0 installed, called pre-release... but that was removed from my computer before i tried to install the gold version of 6.0, using the included uninstaller, and by me deleting the whole (now empty) program directory afterwards...

Now I am going to reinstall my windows xp... doing an upgrade install, to see if that solves the problem... I'll be right back!

You might try to download and install the CleanUp utility (msicuu2.exe) from Microsoft website <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295823>
