I need XMMS help - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

I'm trying to listen to streaming Internet music using XMMS running on Yellow Dog Linux on an old iMac. When I put the URL in the "play location" window, an "open file" window pops open, prompting me for a file on the local hard drive. I can't play Internet streams. This is most annoying. Why does it happen? Anybody?...

    Sounds like there's a plug-in or something missing, although I don't
    know what it is.

Just like another post in either this group or the Slackware
newsgroup from yesterday: Someone said that the Gimp wasn't
supporting .jpg files. Turns out they had to install
imagemagik or something. So there's probably some type of library
for streaming audio support that you need. Visit the XMMS website,
search Google Groups, and, if all else fails, just download the
source and compile a fresh copy. Sometimes the version that comes
with a distro is missing a lot of stuff, for copyright reasons.
