I've lost my dialogue box!!! HELP! - Adobe Indesign Windows

I've been using InDesign for about 2 weeks now and I've come across a problem that I've never encountered before with any software... I've lost my dialogue box. When I click on "open" or "save as" etc... the program looks like the box is there but it isn't on screen. I know it's off screen somewhere because when I scroll with my arrow up and down and push enter, on occasion I've loaded files.... I've reset my prefs, uninstalled, re-installed, no luck. Any experts here have any ideas?!?!?!?...

Are you using dual-monitors? If so, change your designated primary monitor and see what happens.

Just tried that. Didn't do anything different. I'm totaly lost here. The problem only occurs with Illustrator and InDesign. Photoshop is fine. Any other suggestions?!?!?

So you are running two monitors. I would say that is still your problem, but sometimes what exactly is going on is a bit hard to suss out. I had very similar problems when I lost one monitor for a while, some programs (Illustrator especially) ended up with certain dialogue boxes opening on a non-existant monitor. You may have to try several things, like turning off dual-monitor support, and switching back and forth between primary monitors. You may have to deal with each app separately too becuase it's not so much the app but your OS that controls where things are displayed. On that note, are you running any specific dual-monitor software. You may want to turn it off or even uninstall it.

You should perhaps give some details about your setup, my suggestions are just shots in the dark.
