I want the bounding box in the same size as the editable text!
I want to be able to know the size of the text when itīs still editable. When I do my layout I need to plan for the amount of vinyl material needed to load my cutting plotter. To do that with text I need to create outlines to know the exact surface area. And thatīs a bit of a hassle, since customers always forget a word and then Iīll have to scrap the whole thing since it not is editable.
So - the bounding box (selection box, what ever..) needs to be the exact same size as the editable text, instead of somewhat bigger as it always is.
Any thoughts?

Re: I want the bounding box in the same size as the editable text!
Nader,
Create a rectangle (no fill, no stroke) place it with the same centre as the text (easy with (0,0), and adjust; area W*H will be close.

If it is point type, choose
Effect > Path > Outline Object
Text is still editable, bounding box size as you desired.

Wow, cool Kurt. Too bad that isn't the default.

PS:
Make sure that 'Preview Bounds' is enabled in the preferences or in the Align Palette menu. Otherwise it fails.

Don't know :-)
Make a graphic style out of the effect, that's ok.
