iBook screen strangeness
Hi All,
Recently my iBook's (12", Sept 2002 model) screen has developed a
strange habit. If I open the lid to wake it up, switch the computer on,
or sometimes when simply adjusting the angle of the screen, some
colours become distorted (inverted?).
This only seems to effect some colours on the screen (some blues?), and
so far can always be corrected by moving the screen gently back and
forth. However the problem is likely to occur the very next time I wake
it or power on.
Has anyone else experience similar problems? Does it get better or does
it just get worse?
I'm using my computer heavily at the moment and so am loathe to send it
away for repair, unless this screen oddity is an indicator of worse
things to come.
Other than this the iBook is working absolutely fine. I did have to
send it to Apple for a repair a few months ago when the backlight
seemed to fail, but that has not reocurred since then.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
From,
Tim

Re: iBook screen strangeness
There have been some issues with the connector to the iBook display coming
loose, but it usually causes dimming as opposed to colour corruption.
Thankfully it has not happenned to my iBook yet.
The fact that adjusting the screen angle seems to help points toward some
sort of physical connection problem. Assuming you're still under warranty
you can might be able to get it fixed on the same day at an authorised
apple dealer as opposed to having to send it away for a while.

advise the OP to perform the repair ASAP if still under warranty. You do
not want to end up with a display that only works properly if
half-closed for a week while your authorized local Apple repair
specialist waits for the new display you are most likely to get in
exchange. I was really happy to have my iBook covered by AppleCare.
Oliver :)
