iBook STILL won't charge (grrr)

"New" iBook, purchased in April. Has already been thru AppleCare for
replacement of the logic board because of the blank display problem.

Now, the computer won't charge.

Had it plugged in all day yesterday at work and it charged fine. Took
it home and used it on battery power until it needed to be recharged.
It would not charge. The light on the power adapter did not glow
(green or amber) and the battery indicator did not indicate the iBook
was charging. After fiddling with the connector between the power
brickand the cord that plugs into the wall outlet, and finally
snapping them together forcefully, the charger started working.

This morning, same problem. I have snapped the two pieces together
several times and still cannot get the computer to charge. I have also
reset the Power Manager (shift-control-option-power) twice with no
results.

Suggestions? Hopefully this won't have to go back through AppleCare
again.

When charging, I had noticed the brick getting *very* hot; in fact,
hotter in recent weeks than when I first got my iBook.

Gonna call AppleCare this morning to see what's up. Hopefully they can
send me a new adapter without having to send the entire iBook back.

I took my iBook out to the car and hooked it up to my car charger and
it worked fine. So I think the problem is, indeed, a bad adapter.

Bought the iBook from Mac Warehouse and the nearest dealer (Comp USA)
is a 90-minute drive and I don't go to that town often.

It might be the same problem that my Pismo has developed at the end of last
week. All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, it has simply stopped charging
a 2 months old battery. I tried another adapter with the same result. I also
did reset the power manager, booted in Open Firmare to reset the NVRAM, zapped
the PRAM, rebooted in OS 9 to no avail. The PowerBook is currently at an Apple
Service Provider where it will probably get a new PMU, like my previous
Wallstreet did...

Diagnosis (after trying another power adapter I got my hands on) is a
bad power adapter. AppleCare is sending a new one via Airborne, and I
have to return the old one else my credit card gets charged.

Temporary solution was to buy one of those adapters that allows you to
use a car lighter-powered device at home, and use my car adapter, but
the little device quit working after about five minutes. Thankfully it
only cost $4.99 US at Big Lots. ;-)
