ID 2.0.x + Win2kSP4 + Place file from network into document opened from network = CRASH
We recently purchased new Dell computers for our design staff and I had the new computers come preloaded with Windows 2000 Professional. Loaded InDesign 2.0.1, patched to 2.0.2, designers start to use them and InDesign starts to crash. Here's the recipe:
- Open a document from the network
- File | Place
- browse network share for an image to place and it will crash without any hesitation or error message - POOF! Here's the catch - nothing was even selected to be placed, we were just browsing the network share.
Originally I thought it might be a Windows Explorer issue but InDesign is the only program that exhibits this behavior. Windows is patched to the latest version - on paper it looks identical to other machines in house that do NOT exhibit this behavior.
Has anyone seen this type of crash before?
