ID CS & Tables: system crashes
We're having many problems using ID-CS's table feature in several documents. Actually, we had these same problems with ver 2, and upgrading to 3.0.1 hasn't seemed to help the problems. Running on Win2000, WinXP, and Mac OS 9. Printing to PS and non-PS printers.
Some of the problems we're having are:
* Once we have more than a couple of tables in a document, around 9 or 10 pages worth of tables, the document will no longer print. The system crashes when using the FILE|Print command.
* Once we begin having problems with a file, the system will crash when we try to print the job.
* Sometimes just moving from one page with a table to another page will cause the system to crash.
* Most of the crashes just dump us to the desktop with no dialogue box, warning, or message.
* Sometimes we can rescue a table by copying/pasting it to a new document, but we end up with a whole bunch of 1 or 2-page files rather than one file with all the pages. A pain to manage, repaginate, etc.
* And sometimes copy/paste to a new file doesn't help.
* Sometimes we can at least export a PDF or print to PDF, and sometimes we can't because the system will crash when making the PDF.
Things we've done per Adobe's instructions:
* Use the "Save As" command frequently to rebuild the file, or create a new version of the file.
* Stripped out formulas from the spreadsheet files and converted them to hard values.
* Imported the table in various formats: spreadsheet, word document with table, delimited .txt file.
* Searched/replaced fonts to make them all PS fonts or TT fonts.
* Checked our fonts to make sure they're good. Yes, they print in "normal" documents.
* Used Reveal Codes in WordPerfect (or CrossEyes in Word) to see the internal coding of word processing versions, and removed any extraneous coding.
I'm at my wits end with this. I have a LOT of clients who use extensive tables, so this is critical to our work.
