Default ID CS type does not convert to outlines

I'm preparing a IDCS1 document to print. I'd like to convert the text to outlines, so in the Transparency Flattener Preset I set it to do so. I created a new preset to also have high resolution and 25 on the raster/vector meter (because I have some feathered edges that were not printing properly). When I return to double check my settings, I find it has gone back to the original setting: low-resolution. I have several transparent areas, but have given up on having those print. It seems my raster settings do not "take" either. Now when I open my final PDF in Acrobat all of the type is still a font! Nothing has been converted to outlines. Is this just a bug in IDCS1? I can manually convert the text to outlines on every page, but I'd rather make my preset work. Am I doing something wrong? Does IDCS2 work any better than this first version? Will an upgrade fix this problem?

    Thanks

mguilfoile, when printing to PDF or exporting to PDF you have to make sure that the Flattener preset you have prepared is selected under Advanced in the printing/exporting dialogue.

    Klaus,

I have done that, but it does not work. Thanks anyway. I think it is just broken in IDCS1. The Flattener preset menu is there, but it was never "connected" to anything. Does anyone know if it works in IDCS2?

    Nini,

When outputting text for cutting vinyl letters, the text must be converted to paths (outlines) to be correctly interpreted by the plotter.

    Thanks,

Highlight the text you want to outline and convert to outlines in the type menu.

The Flattener preset menu is there, but it was never "connected" to anything.

You have to understand: The Flattener preset menu is only for managing Flattener presets, not for activating them. Here you can create a new preset the way you need it. So if you use the Flattener preset menu to create a new preset say called »Convert type to outlines for cutting vinyl letters«, then you have just created it, nothing else. It will be of no effect up to now.

Because, additionally you have to call that new preset when printing or exporting, under the Advanced sub menu. You're sure you did all that?
