Default ID still crashing when exporting InCopy story

I cannot export text as an InCopy story without InDesign shutting down with a C++ runtime error (WinXP, Pentium M, 512MB RAM). All relevent plugins are installed and present, I've tried every export option, and I've updated both InCopy and InDesign to versions 3.01. Still no luck.

I found several threads referring to this problem a few months ago but they all died before anyone had any sort of answer. Does this mean there is no answer? Does anyone know how to work around this problem? Otherwise the "workflow" features just ain't flowing for me and are next to useless.

    Cheers.

OK, so I thought IDCS 3.01 was working fine apart from the export problem (see above)... but I've now discovered that evey time I click on anything with the selection tool, ID crashes (this time giving me the "send error report to microsoft" box).

So to try and solve this problem I played with the hardware acceleration (as suggested in another thread, which again died before generating any sort of solution) to no avail. I also pumped up my virtual memory settings, again to no avail. And of course I've uninstalled and reinstalled both ID and IC.

What's up with this? I'd expect these kind of instability problems with some $20 piece of crap software but not from 2004-updated Adobe software running on a late-2003 computer. Jeez.

Yup, done that, and cleared absolutely everything non-essential related to the programs in the application data folders. All gone, and still the problem crashing whenever I use the select tool.

I guess I go back to version 3.0, which seems kinda silly. Or wait for update 3.02 to fix the bugs that 3.01 created.

Still no idea on the InCopy story export problem either. I'm wondering if that's maybe a corrupt plugin file, although I've tried the versions from both the InDesign and the InCopy CDs.

We are using InDesignCS 3.01 on Macs and writers InCopyCS on PC. Things were working okay and then suddenly we couldn't export story in InDesign... just scrolling down to "InCopy Stories" from the Edit menu would make us crash. We thought that it was because the writers were in the file simultaneously, but found this not to be true. So for a work-around, we are creating tables in another InDesign file and copying and pasting them into our newsletter file... it comes into the links list. For the stories, we are placing them from another InDesign file which also adds the story to the links list. Something must have corrupted the file, but we've already rebuilt the file 2 other times.... it's very frustrating, indeed.
