ID2 for XP: Saving and importing color swatches - Adobe Indesign Windows

I'm tired of recreating color swatches I reuse in many doents. Has anybody found a way to save color swatches to batch import other than actually importing your previous doent?...

If you're using them over and over again, simply import those colors
with no doent open. That will then be the default for all new docs.

Hey Thanks Bob! I just now have returned to see your answer (I thought I was set-up for notification) I created the swatches with no file open, it works great!

How about directional transparencies???? Is there anyway to control transparency via the gradient tool to create a directional transparency? (i.e. from solid color to transparent one corner to another)

    Thanks in advance!

No, you can't do that natively. There are workarounds such as using
blend modes on the gradient, but personally I prefer to create them in
Photoshop and save as PSD to place in ID.

Thanks Bob, that's also how I am doing it. One thing I've found about Corel Draw over Illustrator I wish Adobe could somehow aquire is the transparancy tool. On any vector, photo, text or line you simply click and drag the direction of the transparancy and adjust the strength from there. Oh well at leat I can drop and drag into ID.
    Thanks again
