ID3: File totally freezes ID on open
I have a single-page file that ID will not open. When it tries to, it just freezes as solid as an iceberg. File was created in ID3.
Oh, worse news: ID seeme to try to reopen the file after a restart. Nowe I don't even have ID. For now, I'm calling that a bad thing.

Save to a CD with foil backing
Place in any microwave at high power
Set to thaw for 2 minutes (if you see electric arcs inside the microwave DO NOT PANIC, this is normal and don't worry about the smell either)
Open the microwave door and let it cool for 10 seconds
Remove the CD and replace it in your CD ROM drive
VIOLA!
No... not really.
File was created in ID3.
Are you trying to open it in ID3?
Why not just re-create it? It's a single page not a book. I would just re-create it unless it's something I had been working on since the PageMaker days.
If you happen to have a PDF of it some place you could at least turn that into RTF and copy/paste the text so you don't have to type it all over again.
If you have a hard copy, scan it as OCR and copy/paste.
I can't tell you what is causing the freeze up because it can be one of a billion things going on the information you've posted.

As you've probably discovered, on the second or third attempt to recover, ID offers you the chance to cancel the recovery.
