ID3: Mysterious boxes appear on PDFs
I'm making PDFs via Distiller, so saving PostScript from the print dialogue. In my Distileld PDF I get items appearing that are not on the page.
The offending items are a picture box and caption. These are on some of the master pages in my document, but NOT the master for the page in question. They are not on a hidden layer, they have never been page of this page, and they do not appear on printed output (generated through the same print dialogue as the PostScript file).
What the heck is going on?

I seem to remember reading something about "ghosts" like this. Have you
updated to 3.0.1? And why aren't your simply exporting the PDFs?

Re: ID3: Mysterious boxes appear on PDFs
Have updated to 3.0.1.
Not exporting PDFs because the printer and I have discovered that the Distilled PostScript wokrs much better than exported files. Numerous test have brought us to this workflow.

What version of Acrobat are you using?
And from my experience, if distilled PDFs are working better, it's time
for a new printer.

Re: ID3: Mysterious boxes appear on PDFs
New printer is not an option. Besides, we have a workflow that suits both of our needs. I don't have a problem.
Using Acrobat Pro 6.0, windows. The mysterios elements are certainly a product of InDesign, as the color anf font attributes are exactly right for a picture frame and caption.
And while these items do belong in the file, they have never had any reason to be associated with this page.

Like I said, I've seen this mentioned before but I don't remember where.
Check this forum, the Mac forum as well as the Blueworld mailing list.
I'm sorry I don't remember the fix, only that you're not the first to
see this.
