Default IDCS: how to retain facing pages upon export to pdf?

Hi, I have a series of documents that are collected in a book, and I would like to retain the consecutive righthand facing pages when I export the book to pdf. Of course, when I print in duplex mode, I want these pages to print as consecutive righthand pages, so Acrobat would have to somehow interpret this correctly and insert the blank page on the back of the first righthand page.

I hope this makes sense to you. Currently, after I export to pdf, I am manually inserting a blank page between the consecutive righthand pages. This isn't that big of a deal, but some of the readers invariably will print single-sided and end up with several blank pages (causing them to exhibit all sorts of reactionary behavior!).

So, I want to have my cake and eat it to; is there a way to control this in either InDesign or Acrobat?

If you want to have one PDF document, then the only way is to have those blank pages. Acrobat isn't smart enough to always start a double-sided page on odd numbered pages. You can always try renumbering the pages in Acrobat, but I doubt this will help. You can also make two versions. The question to ask yourself is, who would you rather annoy, and by how much? I think the occassional blank page for non-duplex printing is less annoying than screwed up duplex printing.

Another posibility is to play with your text so that the blank page is unnecessary. A little hyphenation, justification, tracking, and editing might make the whole think moot.

Make sure you have facing master pages in the pages window... (which probably is allready the case)
    A
    A - A
    ect...

    then go to 'print'
    printer : print as pdf
    then choose a page format
for instance for two facing A4 pages choose A3
but the tricky thing comes now, because you dont want vertical A3!
so you must then choose the size manually, but then, it actually automatically changes A3 to horizontal which is what you want.
    click 'print blank pages'
    then press print
not perfect, because sheets are shown horizontal – but so far the best solution.
    anyone with another solution?
(note: I'm using the german version and it's an old ID 2007 version, wouldn't believe they haven't fixed that by now...)
