Default IDCS2 Can't Save. Get error message

I am opening a indd. that I suspect may be from version 3.0. Mine is 4.0. I can open the file, navigate through it and make changes flawlessly, but when I go to save it, I get an error message that says I can't save due to damage to the file DBTmp398-1847075727 (Error message: 0)

As I have stumbled around trying to solve the problem, the damaged file name has changed after the DBTmp part, but the problem is always the same. I know the DBT file thing is some kind of recovery file, but that's it. Help! I'd like to save my work.

As a side note. When I try to rename the file by exporting it and changing it to a inx. file, I can't because I "don't have permission or the file is open". So how do I get it to inx. (and is that my solution anyway???)

Have you tried to copy the content of the file to a brand new clean document?

If you do this and want to keep the layer structure intact, select the "paste remembers layers" option under the dropdown arrow on the layers palette.

    Let's get some more details:

Have you tried 'save as' and 'save a copy'?

Is the name too long or does it have strange characters in it?

Have you tried creating a new user and opening the file in that?

Is the file locked? (Finder>get info)

Are you saving to your internal hard drive?

Is the file being read from a cd?

Have you tried opening it on another computer?

I'm sure there's loads of other things but I'm quite busy today.

Sounds like you're working off a CD. If so, don't.

What is the best way to copy the entire content of the file. For example, I am opening a six page document. If I simply "select all" I only get the page I have visible.

Wait, wait. I just discovered that I can't save at all due to this "damaged or corrupted" file. Is my only solution to uninstall and start again with CS2 (will that even fix it?)

From memory, selecting the pages in the pages palette and dragging and dropping to the new file should do the trick.
