Default IDCS2/MacPro: Crashes Outputting Duotone/Quadtone EPS

Mac Pro; 2GB Ram; InD 4.0.4.658

I'm working on 2 projects, one using duotone images and the other a quadtone (saved as EPS files out of Photoshop).

Problem: trying to export to PDF (or print to an Epson 1270), I get out of memory errors, or InD unexpectedly quits. Activity Monitor has shown plenty of free ram over several occurrences.

Workaround: Converted the duotones/quadtone to Multichannel files and saved as DCS 2.0 EPS files (single file w/72 dpi color preview). These output (composite or color separations) without any trouble.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem on an Intel-based Mac. or can confirm it by testing.

    Thanks.
