    Default Idea setup for SQL/ASP

I'm writing to get ideas for the idea set up for my
webserver and database server. It is a test environment.

    Here are the choices:

    - p4 2.8 ghz, 80GB hd, windows 2003 server, sql server
2000 ent, and use for primary webserver also

    or

    - p4 2.8 ghz, 80GB hd, windows 2003 server, sql server
    2000 ent

    - p2 450, 20GB hd, windows 2003 web edition for webserver

If you had to pick an environment for a possible set up,
which would it be, would you have the webserver and
database server on the same machine? Why, why not? Or
would you use the P4 for the database server and the p2
for the webserver using Windows 2003 web edition? Why or
    why not?

What types of issues do you forsee in either of the
    configurations?

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on how much traffic you expect. For some sites, you should have no
problem with the two aspects on the same machine. For larger / higher
volume sites, you'll want to distribute the load.

You're saying this is a testing environment, so I think your highest
priority should be mimicking the production environment for which it will be
    used...
