IE Explorer only allows .AI file on web page to be saved as .PS file?
I put an .AI file on a web page thinking those with Adobe Illustrator could click on the link and open the file. I thought those without Illustrator could still save the file as an .AI file.
Why does IE 6 change the .AI to a .PS? If you save Figure1.AI as Figure1.PS (the default) then Illustrator won't open the file.
If I Right Click | Save Target As with an .AI file, the dialog still renames Figure.AI to Figure.PS, but I can rename the file once saved back to .AI and Illustrator will open it.
Why the switch between AI and PS files? Is this Adobe's idea, or Microsoft's? Is this by design by Adobe and/or Microsoft?

Earl,
Pour yourself a drink, then read this:
"AI file saved from a website + Internet Explorer" 5/12/04 6:47am </cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bb41271/0>
You might want to consider putting AI and other non-MIME-typed files in a ZIP or SIT archive for posting on a Web site.
