Illustrator 10 defaulting to RGB colour
I'm running a G5 with with OS 10.3.3. Lately Illustrator is default opening into RGB preview. I must've hit a button somewhere because it was fine before. Anyway, I know I can change from RGB to CMYK in the Colour palette - but, as an example, yesterday I filled a box with 80% - K (black). Closed the file, opened it up later and the box was no longer 80% - K. It was now 62.35 - C/ 48.63 - M/ 48.63 - Y / 47.84 - K. Illustrator had converted it to RGB and then back to CMYK. How do I ditch the RGB default. Help!! Thanks. Sandra

Re: Illustrator 10 defaulting to RGB colour
Are you changing it in both spots?
Change the color mode to cmyk and in the color pallet flyout menue.

Re: Illustrator 10 defaulting to RGB colour
Sandra,
What version of AI are you running? If it is AI9, then you have saved a PDF with screen resolution from the Save dialog. Early versions of AI9 would do this until you resave a PDF with the default press resolution.

Re: Illustrator 10 defaulting to RGB colour
Eureka! I knew it was simple. Upon opening up a new document I see I'd switched the CMYK default to RGB default. All fixed. I love these forums. So much help. Thanks.
