    Default Illustrator 10 partial screen

I just installed Illustrator 10 on my PC. I am using Windows ME. When Illustrator opens I get the tools and all the pallets. I do not get the tool bar across the top of the screen or the background. You see the desk top in the background.
Because I don't have the tool bar on the top I cannot open any files nor can I close the program. I have to CTRL ALT DEL and then end task to close it.
Please help. I am fairly new with these types of programs.
    Thank you.

    Hi Kurt,
Thanks for the response but F what? I tried F1 and it didn't help. I didn't what to play with all the function keys because I was afraid of the results.

    Robin:

You may need to delete your prefs file, refer to FAQ item 4 for directions. That will restore Illustrator to factory defaults. Terribly common issue...corrupt aiprefs.
