I am experiencing a very similar problem, which no-one has an answer to. I have upgraded to the latest version but it still happens. I edit an existing Illustrator file containing eps, fonts and sometimes logos. Out of every 1 of 20 on average that I save from shortcut saves the original file as a pdf. On every Illustrator file I work on upon completion need to do a SAVE AS .pdf. Normally on the SAVE AS dialogue box the default setting for saving as is Illustrator with the extension unchecked, I normally divert the default to Adobe pdf and check the extension button. On the occasions where it saves the original file into a pdf I notice the default setting on the SAVE AS dialogue box sets itself to Adobe .pdf. I always save the original Illustrator file BEFORE I do a SAVE AS to pdf.

I end up with my original Illustraot file being a pdf as well as the SAVED AS pdf file too.

I have gone through a process of elinimation and have discovered it is not a font, eps or logo issue as I use these same items on other common files frequently and it doesn't convert the other files, it seems to pick files randomly.

I'm running a UK Mac OS 10.3.2, G4. The files are running from my mac as opposed to across a network.

Anyone have any asnwers? I'd appreciate any feedback, no matter how small.
