If you did the Adobefnt.lst thing and changing the time zone thing and trashing preferences thing, I don't know what else to suggest for you two.

But I'm only on OS9.2.2. I do read this forum faithfully, though.

Did you check for corrupt fonts? I also delete Abdobefnt.lst files no matter what size they are.

Good luck, maybe someone else will chime in.

hello, i have the same issues, slow as hell, waiting etc. seems like it is getting worse or is it just my patience thinning? i tried the font maneuver as well with no noticable change. anyone have a solution out there? maybe it's time to upgrade to CS as adobe has predetermined to slow us down unless we upgrade ha!

I may have fixed my problem! quit illustrator. Do a file find adobefnt
Move all adobefnto01.1st, Adobefnt05.lst and Adobefnt06.lst. to the trash and delete them. Restart illustrator. At the moment my system is flying again.

I also am having this problem. I tried the font search/delete thing, but no improvement.

I am avoiding upgrading to CS because every time I open a file in CS the fonts seemed messed up.

We receive most files from clients as AI 8. How should we be handling them in OSX 10.3?

The CS option seems problematic, due to the above, but AI 10 is slow with this beachball issue.

    Any comments are appreciated.
