illustrator 10 to photoshop 7 colour issues
Hi folks,
I'm currently creating a 2 colour logo in Illustrator 10 on Windows XP. The 2 colours are blue (C100,M50,Y0,K50) and yellow (C0,M0,Y100,K0), when I save the logo as EPS and open it in Photoshop the blue seems to change drastically, becoming MUCH lighter to what it appears to be in Illustrator yet the CMYK values remain the same. The HEX value has changed however, from #032850 to #004071. This is posing quite a problem as the logo will be used in both print and web designs and such a major colour difference just wouldn't be acceptable.
Has anybody had any similar problems or know of why this may be happening and possibly have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Robert

Re: illustrator 10 to photoshop 7 colour issues
I find it more accurate to export the logo as a PSD from Illustrator IN CMYK, then open the PSD in Photoshop. Then convert it to RGB for the web if required. The colours don't make a big shift that way.
My test file using your values above opened exactly the same in Photoshop for me. I tried both EPS and PSD.
Have you got color management on in one program and not the other?
Colors are more accurate to change from CMYK to RGB than the other way round. A simple way of rememberins it that CMYK colours will always appear different on the monitor in RGB because RGB is reflected light and CMYK is absorbed and used for process print only.
