illustrator 10 - trouble masking with two rectangles - please help. how???
hi,
i've drawn a rectangle with corners. solid fill, solid colour for outlines.
i've then drawn a rounded rectangle inside this previous rectangle.
I make a mask from both shapes and the cornered rectangle is masked off, only the masking is inverse to what i want.
how do i change the way in which the shapes are masked. i basically want to invert this.
im trying to make a nice border for an image that has corners on the outside edge, and rounded corners on the inside.
its driving me crazy trying to do this simple task in Illustrator 10.
cheers
james.

You don't want a mask.
After drawing outer and inner rectangles, select both, then Object>Compound path > Make ( command-8 )
