Default Illustrator 10 vs. Illustrator CS

I'm planning to upgrade my Illustrator 7 and am trying to decide which version to buy. Will 10 open CS files and vice versa? I use Windows ME. Thanks, Sandy

    Sandra,

Will 10 open CS files and vice versa?

    No and yes.

    I use Windows ME.

That limits your choice to version 10, if, in fact, you can find one for sale.

Thank you. Are you saying that ME is limited to using 10? Is version 10 no longer for sale? Does CS require a different operating system? Thanks again.

    10, 9, 8... nothing newer than 10.x.

Is version 10 no longer for sale?

Not through regular retail channels, as far as I know. You might be able to find some resellers with old stock. eBay is a potential source.

Does CS require a different operating system?

Here are the system requirements for CS according to Adobe:

    Donna,

    Check out this topic <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.2ccdcf7b/0>.

Going back and forth between versions 10 and 11 (CS) is going to be problematic if there is a lot of text involved. One of you will have to upgrade/downgrade to smooth things out.
