Not having any luck
You may want to be a little more detailed than that.
What happens when you try and install it?

Re: Illustrator 7.0
2 thing leap to mind, Illy 7 would have to be installed in Classic or Booted in OS9. It is not directly compatible with Panther.... Do you have Classic running or is the installer launching it?
Second, Illy 7 was the worst version oif Illy ever made. Do your self a big favour and chuck it. Start fresh and current and get Illy CS.
If you are going to Panther... Go all the way.

Yes. Give Adobe more money. That's the solution to all your problems. ;-)

Re: Illustrator 7.0
I also have Illustrator 7.0 on my Mac and I can't afford to buy a new version this week. I have to send some art in a few days to a company using Illustrator 9.0 on a PC. I tried a test, sending a file I saved as an eps (though it didn't have the suffix in the name) and his computer couldn't read it at all. Anyone know what I can do?

I haven't used AI7 in eons, but AI 8 works fine on my G4 under OS 10.3.

I tried adding the suffix and sent it and he still couldn't open it. He asked that I save it as a PC file. Can't find a way to do that. Anyone know how?

When you Save As EPS, in the Preview section, click on "8-bit IBM PC" and they should be able to read that file.
