Illustrator 8.0 on OS 9.2

I was using Illustratr 8.0 on my Mac OS 8.6. I have upgarded my OS to 9.2. Can I still run Illustrator 8.0 on OS 9.2 or do I need to upgrade to Illustrator 9 or 10? When I try opening Illustrator 8.0 in OS 9.2 I get the following error message - Where is Macintosh HD::Shared:Startup? and after I hit cancel I get another message - File not found: Macintosh HD: Applications (Mac OS 9): Illustrator 8.0:Shared:Startup. Any suggestions would be very helpful. I'm wondering if reloading Illustrator 8.0 on OS 9.2 will do the trick.

Are you trying to open the program from a previous alias or from the program application?

Illustrator 8 runs great on OS 9.2. Launch it directly from the application icon in the Illustrator folder, or make a new alias from it.

I currently have OS 10.3 on my computer. I tried launching it in the classic OS 9 mode and that didn't work. So I rebooted my computer in OS 9.2 and then tried opening it from the application icon in the illustrator folder. That didn't work either. I haven't experienced any issues with Photoshop or with In-Design. illustrator is the only application that I am having issues with. Any ideas?

You've now stated 3 separtate operating systems. Can you clearly stat what OS versions you have install on yoru machine?

AI8 will work wonderfully when booted into OS9.x. It'll work pretty darn good through the classic emulation mode of OS10.3. Maybe you simply need to reinstall AI8 from the original CD. You'll need to boot into OS9 to do that.
